The Lord Jesus is spoken of as Saviour in many different spheres:
- the Saviour of the world - 1 Jn 4:14; Jn 4:42 - He loves all and died for all.
- the Saviour of all men - 1 Tim 4:10
- especially the Saviour of believers - Although His death was sufficient for all and the benefits of it are genuinely open for all (as the first two titles show), only believers enter into the good of it.
- the Saviour of the body - Eph 5:23 - Christ is the Saviour of believers of every age. Nobody has ever been or will ever be saved by anyone or anything else. But in a special way, He is the Saviour of the church.
- our Saviour - Titus 2:13 - Those of us who are part of the church can gratefully acknowledge His as our collective Saviour.
- my Saviour - Lk 1:47 - A believer is someone who knows Christ as Saviour individually. We aren't saved by being part of a church or part of
