The Judgment Seat of Christ
Introduction
- When?
- Rev 22:12 - "I am coming quickly and My reward is with Me" (Lk 14:14)
- After the rapture will come the Judgment Seat of Christ
- Who is the Judge?
- Christ (Jn 5:22f)
- What is the Purpose of the Judgment?
- It is an evaluation of our service for the purpose of rewards; it is not judgment for sin
Major Bible Passages
- Rom 14:10-12
- Each one shall give an account of himself to God
- We won't be giving an account of our brothers and sisters
- 1 Cor 3:10-15
- The fire will test the quality of our work (cf. Rev 1:14; Heb 4:13)
- If our work is sub-standard we will suffer loss of reward but we will be saved (1 Cor 3:15)
- We ought to be careful that our work is quality work - it's not enough that it "looks good"
- 1 Cor 4:4-5
- When the Lord comes He will bring to light the things hidden in darkness and our motives
- Each man's praise will come to him from God
- We may not be thanked and praised down here for a number of reasons
- But we can be assured that there is One who notices and will thank us
- If our eyes are fixed down here, we'll constantly be miserable and bitter that we're not appreciated - but if our eyes are fixed on Him and His coming for us, we've no need to be discouraged

- Our prime ambition in life should be to be pleasing to Him
- We must all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ to be recompensed for the deeds in the body
Our Rewards: Crowns
- Imperishable crown (1 Cor 9:25)
- For self-control and mastery over the flesh
- All the crowns are imperishable
- Crown of exultation (1 Th 2:19)
- For how we build in the lives of others (gospel and edification)
- Crown of righteousness (2 Tim 4:8)
- For those who love His appearing
- Crown of life (Jas 1:12; Rev 2:10)
- For perseverance
- Crown of glory (1 Pe 5:4)
- For faithful elders
- All the crowns relate to the person and work of Christ
